THE SWITCH: Slate is a bartender and he met Stacey. They hit it off and went on a date, where they almost kissed. She invited him back to Kelsey Lake to attend Cole's wedding with her. There, they were stunned to learn that Slate's father, Nathan, was Lucinda's long lost son, meaning they are cousin's.

CHRISTMAS MINI SERIES: Slate struggled to get over his attraction to Stacey, but realized that as a Rockwell, he should be working at the family company. He was put off when Mac told him that he would have to start from the ground up and work his way through the company, meaning he was given a job in the mailroom. Slate hated it but took the job; he started the position but didn't succeed right away. He ended up meeting Carmen at the country club, and they hit it off, and hit the sheets. She suggested that they work together to get revenge on the Rockwell's. A short time later, Nathan told his son that he saw Lucinda and Dane together. Wondering what was going on, Slate placed a bug in the study of the mansion and called Dane over. Slate listened to their conversation and overheard Dane admit that he is Mac's father! Slate and Carmen made love to celebrate before Slate told Nathan the truth. On Christmas Day, Nathan announced to everyone that Dane is really Mac's father!

SEASON SIX: Slate continued to romance Carmen, who was thrilled that Slate and Nathan were slowly taking over Rockwell Mining. Slate told Nathan that he wanted to have a position at the company, so he was thrilled when Nathan was appointed the new CEO. Slate continued to rub Mac's paternity in his face. Carmen, then, suggested to Slate that they get married! Slate was put off by this and told her he wasn't sure if he ever wanted to get married. He and Carmen did elope in Las Vegas, however. He returned for Nathan and Sabine's engagement party. Mac crashed the party drunk and Slate confronted him. A drunken Slate punched his uncle; instead of fighting back, Mac walked away from the fight. Slate went after him but slipped and fell into the pool! He died as a result.
