Growing up in the 80's and into the 90's, Dallas Walsh always watched daytime TV. His grandmother watched The Young and the Restless, so Dallas has been watching this show his entire life. His Mom also watched Days of Our Lives and Another World. In the 90's, Dallas' favorite show was Days as it moved at a faster pace than Bill Bell's Y&R.

Dallas has a younger brother, Patrick, who was also into soaps. On a weekend, Dallas saw Patrick playing with his floor mat that was of a town with his tonka cars. Patrick was having dialouge with the characters (each character had their own vehicle and would drive around the town); Patrick estentially had created his own soap opera with the floor mat and cars. He called it "Green Meadows" and he would do act it out every weekend when we weren't in school.

Immediately, Dallas wanted in on the action and in 1994, he created One Day at a Time. The characters that are on the series now were in the original series back then. Soon, however, Dallas realized that he was finding it difficult to remember everything that was happening, so in 1995 he started writing ODaaT on paper in the Soap Opera Digest synopsis' of each series. Did continued to write this format until 2002 when he brought ODaaT to the internet.

The first few years of the internet version of ODaaT, Dallas admits are not his best work. "I was so raw moving from one type of writing to another," he says. "The episodes are not good, but I like them because it shows how far I've come. And now if I get a new reader or two, I just recommend reading the annual recaps because there are close to 500 episodes!"

Dallas still writes ODaaT today and has no plans on ending the series any time soon!
